Obituary of Ronald William Sherwood

It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald "Ron" William Sherwood announces his passing on May 22, 2025, at Hospice Fredericton. Ron was a cherished husband of Dianne Mabel (Warren) Sherwood. Born on February 15, 1947, in Fredericton, NB, he was the beloved son of the late Marguerite (Edwards) and William Sherwood.

Ron is survived by his loving daughters, Stacey Cormier (Jason) and Amanda Sherwood; his adored grandson, Jayden Cormier; and his sisters-in-law, Wesla Sherwood and Ann Bye (Gordon). He will also be greatly missed by his "fur grandbabies" Lucy, Rocky, Callie, and Zoey, along with several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Sherwood.

Ron dedicated 34 years of service as a Maintenance Man at the York Care Center, where he was affectionately known as "Tool Man." Although he held many roles in life—son, brother, husband, uncle, and father—his most cherished title was "Papa." His faithful companion Bailey was by his side for 14 wonderful years. A proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Ron had a passion for cribbage, even representing New Brunswick at a championship in Ottawa. He cherished the moments spent with friends at his "Office," also known as Tim Horton's. Always a handy Fix-it Man, Ron was enthusiastic about working on projects and lending a helping hand to family and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Hospice Fredericton and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.

A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to Hospice Fredericton, Fredericton SPCA, or a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences can be shared at www.yorkfh.com.
