Obituary of Allen Benjamin Boone

The passing of Allen Benjamin Boone of Tay Creek, NB, husband of the late Dorothy Christina (Thomas) Boone, occurred on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 12, 1929 in Tay Mills, NB, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mary Ellen Boone. Allen started working after school days at age 13 with his brother Irvine in the woods. Him, Irvine and their uncle, Hayward worked for Lieutenant Governor Wallace Bird on the Lake Property in Woodlands for a few years. Allen worked for Fred Boone Senior for 25 years at the Saw Mill in Tay Creek until he retired in 1995. After retirement he worked at home on the farm and helped his son work around the woods until his hospitalization last December. He essentially worked every day until he went to the hospital. Allen was a member of Loyal Orange Lodge #144 for over 70 years in Woodland, NB. He was one of the trustees at the North Cardigan United Church for many decades. Allen and Dorothy were married on November 20, 1960 and lived happily for 60 ½ years until her passing on April 10, 2021.

 

Allen is survived by his son, Duane Boone (Cathy) of Fredericton, NB; brother-in-law, David Thomas (Kathy) of Williamsburg, NB; sisters-in-law, Ellen Harris (Guy) of Fredericton Junction, NB, Bonnie Thomas of Jemseg, NB, Ann Thomas of Tay Creek, NB and Rowena Needle of Leder, SK; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 

Besides his parents and loving wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Irvine Boone and Eldon Boone; sister, Elva Boone; in-laws, Frank and Alma (MacKinnon) Thomas; sisters-in-law, Evelyn MacKinnon (late Archie) and Doreen Thomas; brothers-in-law, Garnet Thomas, Jack Thomas, Frank Thomas (late Ina), Carl Thomas, Vincent Elliotte; nephew, Dow Thomas (Dianne).

 

The Graveside Service will take place in the North Cardigan United Church Cemetery, Cardigan, NB on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 2 pm with Rev. Chris Walker and Rev. Brian Delong officiating, a Reception will follow at the North Cardigan United Church. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the North Cardigan United Church Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
