Obituary of Stephen Roy Read

It is with heavy, broken hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen "Steve" Roy Read of Fredericton, NB, beloved husband of Elaine Marie (Nicks) Read. Steve passed away suddenly on May 13, 2025, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. He was born on May 26, 1956, in Upper Nappan, NS, to Agnes (Hastie) and the late Roderick Read.

In addition to his wife and his Mother, Steve leaves behind his brothers, Malcolm Read (Gail), Rev. Randall Read (Patricia), and Robin Read (Krista Gould), along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and his aunt Ella Ripley who cherished him dearly.

Steve had a passion for his Harley Davidson motorcycle, particularly treasuring the cross-country road trip he shared with his brother Randy. He was an avid woodworker and cook, with a special love for grilling and smoking. Steve also enjoyed bike trips with Elaine in Atlantic Canada and to the US. A yearly springtime trip to a sunny destination traveling with his beloved wife.

Steve had many dear and long time friends including fellow biker friends who all got together at their “secret” weekly meetings and enjoyed many bike rides, as a group, on a regular basis.

Family and friends are invited for visitation to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 1 William St., Fredericton, NB Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 12 to 1 PM, which will be immediatley followed by a Funeral Service at 1 PM. Reception after the service in the downstairs of St. Theresa’s. The service will be officiated by Fr. Maria Arokiam Chinnappan. An interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Fredericton, NB after the reception. In remembrance of Steve, donations can be made to Children Wish Foundation and Shriner’s Hospital for Children or a charity of the donor's choice.
