Obituary of Roberta Elvira Murray
Roberta Murray (née Harding)
September 13, 1933 – May 13, 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Roberta Murray on May 13, 2025, in Fredericton, NB, at the age of 91.
Roberta was known for her warmth, her love of conversation, and her deep interest in the lives of those around her. Family always came first for Roberta—it meant everything to her. Known affectionately as “Gram,” she was the number one fan of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the heart of the family and its most loyal cheerleader. Roberta found great joy in being a devoted grandmother, never missing an opportunity to support her grandchildren’s activities as their most enthusiastic spectator. She was an avid knitter, crafting socks and sweaters that kept her loved ones warm in every season. Her home-baked rolls were legendary—comforting, and delicious.
After raising her children, Roberta began her professional journey at a local optometrist’s office. She later brought her talents to APEGNB, where she spent many fulfilling years applying her accounting skills—skills she first developed managing the books for Murray Housing Ltd., the family business.
Roberta is survived by her children Sharon Murray (Paul Hollins) and Robert Murray (Angie); grandchildren Andrea Green, Seann Murray (Lowen Morrow), Drew Murray (Hilary), and Aaron Murray (Madison Dixon); and great-grandchildren Noah and David Green, Dougie and Lizzy Murray. She is also survived by her sisters: Eva Juhola, Darlene Murray, Lenore Harris, and Patricia Saunders; brother Boyd Harding and her sister-in-law Elaine Murray; several brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Roberta was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Derinda Harding, her beloved husband Blair Murray, daughter Karen Carlisle, grandson Ryan Adam Murray, and son-in-law Peter Carlisle as well as sisters Iva Agnew, Tina Clementi, Verna Fliegher, Winnie McAllister, Vera Taylor and brother Charles Harding.
In keeping with Roberta’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 20th at at 6pm at Riverside Cemetery, Tabusintac, NB.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Roberta’s home care workers, whose compassion and support allowed her to remain in the comfort and familiarity of her home.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation in Roberta’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Riverside Cemetery, Tabusintac.
