Obituary of Alderic Joseph Doucet

The passing of Alderic Joseph Doucet of Fredericton, New Brunswick, husband of the late Amanda (Barrieau) Doucet, occurred on March 24, 2025, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 14, 1938, in Collette, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Helene (Pitre) Doucet and Isidore Doucet.  Alderic had a big heart, always helping others, and a contagious smile that would light up any room. Always eager to chat with anyone.  He enjoyed bowling for many years and was an avid cribbage player. He loved his family dearly and will truly be missed by all.

Alderic is survived by his daughters, Diane Dixon (Scott) of New Maryland, New Brunswick and Alice Dingley (Leigh) of Fredericton, New Brunswick; grandchildren Brian, Celina, Jason, Brandon, Kristin, Lacey, Brett, Mitchell; great grandchildren Lucas, Chase, Brodie, and Peyton; his sisters Dorina Cameron (Jim) of Rogersville, New Brunswick and Geraldine Arsenault (Patrick) of Murray Settlement, New Brunswick; brother-in-law, Rheal Cassie; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Alderic was predeceased by his brothers, Adelard Doucet, Alexis Doucet, Guillaume Doucet, Edmond Doucet, and Oscar Doucet; sisters Elvina Goguen and Florine Cassie; and sisters-in-law Liliane Doucet, Rosalie Doucet, and Geraldine Doucet.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The funeral will take place immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm.  Interment will take place in Saint Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Lincoln, New Brunswick in the spring.
