Obituary of Gary Mitchell Green

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Mitchell Green, husband of Mary Wilson-Green, at Fredericton Hospice House on March 21, 2025. Born on August 5, 1953 in Calgary, Alberta, he was the son of the late Betty Lougheed and Walter Green. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Gordon Haw and his brother Alan Haw (Cathy).

He is survived by his sons, Colin Green (Emily), Darren Green (Faith) and their mother Patricia Walsh (John), his sister Vicki Harper (Bryan), brothers Dennis Haw (Debbie) and Doug Haw (Ann), five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Gary’s true passion was his work. As a Power and Commissioning Engineer he travelled the world sharing his knowledge and expertise. He was a mentor to so many in his field and a wonderful ambassador to his profession. Gary formed many lasting friendships over the course of his 55-year career and he will be missed.

In his retirement Gary loved spending time at the farm devoting much of his energy to the many projects required to maintain a century old home. At the end of the day, he could usually be seen by neighbors enjoying a fine single malt Scotch on the front porch.

Many thanks to the Extra-Mural nurses, the doctors and nurses at the DECH and Hospice House. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

At Gary’s request, there will be no service but a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Those who wish may make donations to Hospice House or to a charity of their choice.
