Stewart Atwood Foster

February 1936 – March 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stewart Atwood Foster on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 89. He was the son of George and Winifred (Foreman) Foster of Burtt’s Corner, NB. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Anne (Brewer) Foster; two daughters, Laurie Moir (Mike) and Beth Foster (Randy Belsher); seven granddaughters: Sherri Johnston (Steve), Angie Buchanan (Todd), Jessica Moir, Allison Moir (Gaelen Anderson), Megan Connors (Justin), Keyra Connors (Danny), and Brenna Connors (Jeff); five great-grandchildren: Madeline Johnston, Rachel Johnston, Amara Chaput, Finley Anderson, and Connor Anderson. He is also survived by his brother, Carl Foster, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Stewart Foster; brothers, Wendall Foster, Eldon Foster, and his sister, Bernice Yerxa.

A carpenter by trade, he worked many years for Fredericton Housing. He was adored by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the best husband, father, grampie, and great-grampie. He was an avid Montréal Canadiens fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his good friend, Burpee Harris. He will be greatly missed.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside committal will take place in the Burtt’s Corner Community Cemetery at a later date.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Stewart’s memory, the family has suggested the Canadian Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and the Fredericton SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
