Dear Fred and Family, Pastor John and Willow 'Ann, Debbie and the Symonds Family,
I just want to express my sorrow after reading of Maridel´s passing as I know, from my own family when a loved one passes, there often follows an emotional pain of various degrees. How comforting, to read, that which Jesus said, Himself, Blessed are they who mourn as they shall be comforted.
I particularly remember Maridel on two occasions – the first was when
I met her at Beulah and the second time was when she sang a solo at a church service, that was conducted at the church on the hill by the senior, Pastor Symonds, who was Fred´s Dad.
Maridel had a deeply spiritual singing voice and I recall at the time, being very moved not only with the words, but too, with her gifted voice. I can well imagine Maridel now joining the holy angles singing praise and worship anthems to our Lord Jesus!
I want to hope that each of you is receiving the comfort that our loving and heavenly Father has, indeed, according to your personal needs.
With very warm Greetings,
Vaughan O´Leary

When our family moved to the States, we first lived in the home of my Uncle Bob and Aunt Lois (Maridel's parents). They had turned the basement into a cozy apartment for us, we lived there for five years. I treasure the memories of this time, there are so many. Here's one… I would go upstairs to be with Maridel, we would sit side-by-side on the organ bench, and she would play for me. And then, eventually, she would play and we would sing together our very favorite song: "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story. Swaying back-and-forth we would sing it over and over, each time a little louder, until eventually we would collapse in a fit of giggling.
Mariel was my cousin but more like my big sister. She was my idol, I just wanted to be like Maridel.
This was a life well lived, she is loved, she is missed.

Maridel has been a part of my life since I was around 10 years old. One memory I have is her beautiful singing. One particular song stands out in my mind “I was born to love the Lord”. That is how she lived her life and many of us were blessed by her in so
Many different ways, over the years, Reid and I had many enjoyable and fun times with Fred and Maridel. Sending our love, and lifting the entire family up in prayer.

Photo of the "Old Neighborhood Gang". Growing up we were a closeknit bunch of friends with lots of adventures and tales to tell. Now there is one less member of our gang since you have left us. Once again, you will be reunited with those that left before you. Say hello for us and let them know they will always remain in our hearts as you do now. Off to new adventures sweet Maridel.

So sorry to hear of Maridel’s passing. We got to know Fred and Maridel while pastoring there at the church known then as Olivet Wesleyan. Maridel was a sweet, soft spoken lady, always willing to lend a listening ear. God has given us many memories to cherish of special people we have met over the years. I loved to listen to her sing. Our prayers are with you and your family, Fred, during this time and in the adjusting days ahead. Love you! - Perry & Jean

Grieving the loss of a lady who was much more than a sister in law to me but a dear and cherished friend for over 50 years . My mind is flooded with so many memories when brothers were our husbands . During Conard’s illness Maridel and Fred were there for us all 16 months. She was so caring and giving . We continued to be very close two years ago when I married HC Wilson another long time friend. We shared many lunches , games and visits. Our hearts are doubly sad that we are so far away during this time . We look forward to times together with Fred in the future . Love Debby and HC .

Maridel and I met when we were just children at Riverside Camp. Our grandmothers, Pansy and Alberta, were great friends. Fred and Maridel visited Riverside on their honeymoon. They wore matching blue and white stripped seersucker suits - very impressive to a teenager! Fred, as you and your children enter into this season of grieving, may you be aware of the peace that passes all understanding. Maridel is an exceptional woman who leaves many memories to share with each other. God bless you all. With deep sympathy and much prayer, Joanne Johnson

Shocked to learn of Maridel’s passing. We have great memories of card games, both at Beulah and in Florida. Yard sales were a given and always with Fred driving as he knew the best spots! Maridel could make something out of nothing and boy was it beautiful when she was finished! We send our love and condolences to Fred and the family. May God give you grace and peace to walk through your sorrow. Will see you soon, Maridel!
