Greene, Glenda Cora-Lee
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of our most beloved wife, sister and aunt, Glenda Cora-Lee Greene. Glenda passed away on February 22, 2025, in Venice, Italy, while travelling with her husband, Forrest Douglas Orser. They celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on February 14 in Rome. Born on January 2,1957, in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Glen Hanford Greene and Dora Isabelle (Hunter) Greene.
Besides her husband, Glenda is survived by sisters, Marilyn Swan (Donald) of Brantford, Cynthia Greene of Fredericton, and Kelli Greene (Roberto Florean, deceased) of Fredericton, sister-in-law Joyce (Mountain) Greene of Fredericton, sister-in-law, Jane Fox of Fredericton; brother-in-law, Michael Orser (Kathy) of Fredericton; two nieces, seven nephews, several affectionate great-nieces/nephews, more cousins than you can shake a stick at, and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Vincent Greene, nephew Clark Greene and brother-in-law Roberto Florean.
After graduating from Fredericton High School, she earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of New Brunswick. Glenda then taught school for two years in Swaziland under the World University Service of Canada. Upon her return from Swaziland, she worked as a Project Officer on a pilot Employment Development Program, later securing a permanent position with the federal government department responsible for employment. During her more than 35 years as a civil servant, she acted first in the position of Program Manager and ended her career as a Senior Policy Adviser with Service Canada. She also provided her community with essential support services for many years as a volunteer at the Fredericton Sexual Assault Centre (now Sexual Violence New Brunswick).
An avid reader, Glenda successfully nurtured a passion for books in her nieces and nephews. Her personal favourites were murder mysteries. She enjoyed travelling and fine food accompanied by a good wine. She adored cats and over the years rescued many felines from an uncertain future, including several from certain death.
Glenda will be remembered by those closest to her for the unwavering love and support she freely gave to her family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Hawkins, Pablo Ventura, Sean Swan, Michael Swan, DJ Swan, Ross Greene, Harrison Florean, Paul Orser and Davis Orser.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on April 12 at 2 p.m; followed by a Celebration of Life at 3 p.m. The service will be streamed live at the link above.
