Obituary of Darrel McKenzie Stewart

The passing of Darrel McKenzie Stewart, husband of the late Loretta (Brown) Stewart, occurred on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on July 30, 1933, in Zionville, NB, he was the son of the late James and Agnus (Moran) Stewart. Darrel worked in sales for JW Bird and Company, he was a member of the Fredericton Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Darrel is survived by his son, James Stewart of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha, Chase and Robert Stewart; sisters, Shirley Brown of Fredericton, NB and Marie Davidson (Lou) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB; brothers, Leonard Bennett (Joselyn) of Durham Bridge, NB and Wayne Bennett (Carla) of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and loving wife, Darrel was predeceased by his children, Cheryl and Gerald Stewart; sisters, Elsie Breau (late Eliard), Edith Peacock (Burns), and Mary-Ellen Bennett; brother, Brian Bennett and infant siblings, Ernestine and Eldon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home. At Darrel’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Graveside Service will be held at Zionville Community Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick, Zionville Community Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
