Bonita and I want to express our sympathy to Lorraine and her family and to the boys and their families.
Steve and I attended FHS in the same years though I didn't get to know him until grade 12 when he was on the FHS Black Kats hockey team and we all cheered him from the stands. His father gave a talk about a career in forestry and studying forestry at UNB that winter.
That fall we joined the class of 67, graduated, then continued working at NB DNR while we continued studying for a Master of Science in Forestry for a few more years. And what great times we had those years. Steve and his family welcomed me into their home somehow and I spent a lot of time there while coming and going on campus.
What a career Steve had in forestry and he always stood out in his work. Always a friend to his classmates and fellow foresters and kept us informed of events occurring with various foresters around the country.

My most sincere condolences to you Lorraine and your family.
We were friends growing up with Stevie and Shirley in the South Devon area. We went to school together and skating at the York Arena. Attended all the dances at Devon School and my parents home on many weekends.
Will be praying for peace and comfort you at this most difficult time.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Steve. Memories of our yearly shopping trips to the states and the fun we had came to mind. The guys would stay in the van with the snacks while the ladies were dropped of at the stores. The quietness in the van when we crossed back at the boarder hoping they wouldn't make us claim the goods over our limit! Our thoughts are with Lorraine and family. Memories will help you get through this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Lorraine & family. Steve was an avid UNB hockey fan and we enjoyed the many chats between periods as their hockey fan neighbours. His quiet demeanor and dry comments will be missed.

I graduated from MFRS in 2001.
An intense and at times stressful experience.
While Steve was in line with the school’s high standards, he always conveyed an air of calmness, encouragement and assurance.
I highly appreciated him as a person and as the director of my Alma Mater at the time.
Another good man gone, but certainly not forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lorraine and family in the loss of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Steve will always be remembered as a great friend and neighbor, always there ready to help wherever needed. So many memories of the summer BBQ with chef Steve at their cottage. The festive fun and food at the Christmas gathering, Steve making sure everyone had lots of munchies. Steve always took great pride in his flower beds, perennials and vegetable garden. Now is your time to rest Steve.

Steve was the Director of MCFT my first year. I was part of the first class of MCFT when it went to a 2 year program. As a student I remember Steve as being tough but fair. I grew to respect him very much. As life moved on I would occasionally see Steve at rinks or around town. He always called me by name and took an interest in my life and family.
Passing on my condolences to Steve's family and loved ones.

My condolences Lorraine and to your family.
I first met Steve at the curling club.
We curl together one year on the same team and it was one of my fondest memories of Steve. He was so much fun to be around. Steve loved to joke around and it was fun to watch.
He was a great host too, he and Lorraine held a many great bbq’s at the lake for the Scotia curlers.
I will miss him and was very sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember Steve as a defenseman on our provincial championship midget hockey team in 1960. We had a great year. I met him again several times at UNB while he did forestry and I did engineering.
After many years we hooked up again for the last 15 years to curl for and against each other at the Fredericton and Capital Winter Clubs. He was a fine man and will be missed by his many compatriots.
Condolences to his wife and family.

We have lost a great neighbour, friend and tease. Steve was always there to lend a hand with any project we had on the go. Also, he was eager to retrieve some seeds from our flower garden for summer beds ahead and made sure we had tomato plants each year. Memories of our summer gatherings at the lake and Christmas in our homes will always be cherished to name a few. RIP dear friend. Prayers for healing to Lorraine and families. Cherish your wonderful memories until you meet again.

I am sad to hear of the passing of Steve Hoyt. I am a graduate of MFRS and Steve was both my Instructor and my Director. I went on to a successful career as a working forestry professional, only to end up following in Steve's footsteps as an Instructor at MCFT- including teaching Silviculture, as he taught to me. Steve Hoyt played an important role in my life and career for which I am so grateful. My deepest codolences to his family and close friends.
