Obituary of Ingrid Stillwell

Please share a memory of Ingrid to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Ingrid Stillwell of Fredericton.

Ingrid was born in Heere, a small village in Germany, on March 12, 1934, and passed away on November 26, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Hildegard Küsel and is survived by children Tom and Evelyn, grandchildren Minna and Isak, and brother Wilhelm. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Lou, and siblings Robert, Helga, Klaus, and Ursel.

Ingrid met Lou in the early 1960s while he was stationed in Germany as part of the Canadian Armed Forces and they then married and moved to New Brunswick. She later became a proud Canadian citizen. Ingrid worked for many years at Brewer’s Fashions, where she formed many long-lasting friendships and became a cherished member of the Fredericton community; those who knew her, loved her. She had many hobbies, including swimming, reading, travelling, and volunteering for the Red Cross, and in her sixties she got her BA from St. Thomas University.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the outstanding staff at Fredericton Hospice House for the loving care and compassion that they showed Ingrid in the last month of her life.

Per Ingrid’s wishes there will be no funeral service but a small graveyard ceremony will be held in the future for close family members.

Donations can be made to Fredericton Hospice House, Women in Transition House, or the charity of your choice in Ingrid’s memory. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
