MURDOCK, EDNA JACQUELINE (JACQUI)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna Jacqueline Murdock (Thomas), who passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones, on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Hospice Fredericton. Jacqui was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and follower of Christ.
Born on May 24, 1941, on the Wilsey Road, Fredericton, NB. Jacqui was the daughter of the late Chester Adolphus Eatmon and Edna Margareat Eatmon (McCarty). Jacqui grew up in Fredericton and went on to work at Keddy’s Motor Inn, McConnel Hall, Dominion Grocery Store and retired from One Hour Martinizing. Edna had many hobbies, she played women’s softball, was on a bowling league, was an avid reader, loved (ALL) Star Trek, HGTV, and playing BINGO. Jacqui was known for her warm and welcoming nature. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did.
She was a proud mother to nine children, Margareat Green, Sabina Pitts (Neil), Roberta Muse (Keith), James Thomas (Paulette), Marion Jewett (Rodney), Virginia Drost (Shawn), Marcus Murdock (Jodi), and John Murdock. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her sisters, Ann Gosman and Jellina McGhee (Bill); brother, Chester Eatmon II (Reta); Twenty-six grandchildren and Twenty-four Great Grand Children, and many nieces, nephews and others who called her Mama Jacqui. Besides her parents, Chester and Edna, Jacqui was predeceased by her husband, John A. Murdock, son, George A. Thomas, and Granddaughter, Christina Green, brothers and sisters; William, Rozella, Alberta, Marjorie, Viola, Clark, Paul, Ledford, Handford and her first husband, James R. Thomas.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 6 pm. Remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton; http://frederictonhospice.ca. Jacqui will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness and love will live on in the memories of her family and friends.
