Mildred Esther Boone

Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 3 pm

The passing of Mildred Esther Boone of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Gerald Boone occurred on Friday, January 27, 2023 at York Care Centre.  Born on June 23, 1928 in Maple Grove, NB, she was the daughter of the late Myles and Alvretta (Cornish) Merritt.  Mildred was a member of Gibson Memorial United Church; the UCW and was a church teller.  She enjoyed cooking and playing cards. The most important thing to Mildred was her family.

Mildred is survived by her children, Ardith Armstrong (Dana Murray), Lorna Ball (Keith) and Doug Boone (Ellen) all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Gary Armstrong (Heidi), Jen Stairs (Greg), Krista Doucette (Nathan), Craig Ball (Chrissie), Katie Sharpe (Rob) and Deanna Reicker (Matt); great grandchildren, Keirra and Kaden Armstrong (and their mother, Charman Armstrong) Stella and Owen Sharpe, Brody Ball, Riley and Brooklyn Reicker, Molly and Wyatt Doucette; sister, Shirley Shields (the late Douglas); brother-in-law, Bill Boone (Rachel); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Merritt, Freda Merritt, Jean Biggs (the late Don) and Bella Boone (the late Freddie); several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was predeceased by her sisters, Althea Wilson (the late Wilfred) and brothers, Vincent and Enis Merritt, sisters-in-law, Mary Atkinson (the late Paul) and Greta Spilman (the late Ted). 

The family wish to thank Dr. T Barry, Dr. D. Barry and Dr. P. Kerr.  The family also wish to say thank-you to the nursing staff of the Duffie Unit of Oromocto Public Hospital, nursing staff of Birch Grove, York Care Centre, and to her special friend, Brenda Ingraham.    

The family request that mask to be worn for all services.  Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4-8 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 2 pm with  Rev. Dr. Ian Manson and  Rev. Dr. Kelly Burke officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 3 pm.  For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Gibson Memorial United Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
